The Role
In partnership with the National Forest Company, Westminster Abbey, and ArtReach, the National Memorial Arboretum is producing a nationwide community engagement programme exploring communities’ experience of the pandemic and their engagement with local heritage landscapes.
The programme, being supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, will include four localised artist-led community engagement projects and a nationwide community engagement project. It will enable meaningful engagement with diverse communities, through which we will; inspire remembrance; enable learning; support those living with the impacts of the pandemic; encourage sustained engagement with local outdoor heritage; and create a nationally significant archive of community stories.
The Heritage Engagement Coordinator will provide support across the community engagement programme and will undertake marketing activity to ensure widespread participation.
Based at the National Memorial Arboretum, they will support project collaborators in designing community engagement projects and will be responsible for administration throughout their delivery. This will include coordinating a small team of volunteers assisting in project delivery and archiving.

The National Memorial Arboretum, part of the Royal British Legion, is the UK’s place to remember, an inspirational landscape freely open to all. Situated at the corner of the National Forest in Staffordshire, the Arboretum is home to over 25,000 trees and 400 memorials dedicated to military, civilian and voluntary organisations who have served our nation. It is a place where all can celebrate lives lived and remember lives lost.
