About The Royal British Legion
Careers in Marketing and Remembrance
Across the country, in every city and on every street, the Legion is there to support our Armed Forces community. As the largest charity of our kind, we have 180,000 members, 60,000 volunteers and a network of partners all helping us give support wherever and whenever it's needed.
Our Marketing and Remembrance teams ensure that the Legion’s key messages are delivered and understood by people across the nation. Not just by those we are here to support, but by everyone in this country who owe a debt of gratitude to all who have served. It's this mission, this scale, this challenge and the values we all live by, that makes the Legion such a fulfilling place to thrive.
Whether it’s through our One Legion Brand, press and television coverage, or integrated digital campaigns, as a member of our Marketing and Remembrance teams, you’d help ensure the unique contribution of the Armed Forces community is never forgotten. While inspiring people to engage with the Legion and make an impact for good.
This team is made up of people with a broad range of skills from an even broader range of sectors. If you were to join, together you’d implement the brand and marketing strategy, and deliver events like the Festival of Remembrance.
So, whatever your talents and expertise, if you want to give your days meaning. To put your passion into a role with real impact. To support people and be supported yourself. In an inclusive team that faces every challenge together. We think you’ll find a role here that works for you.
The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic Social Media Officer to join the Royal British Legion’s social media and content team. RBL is the nation’s largest Armed Forces charity providing support and advice to all those currently serving in the British Armed Forces, veterans and their families.
The Social Media Officer is responsible for managing day-to-day interactions with supporters, and creating, curating, sharing and monitoring content across the Legion’s social media channels, under the direction of the Social Media Manager. You would be expected to build and maintain close working relationships within the Marketing department and with other teams to ensure content is joined up and effective in maximising engagement with key audiences.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of managing online communities and creating content for social media platforms.
We are looking for an organised and proactive individual with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects, who should be equally comfortable working independently and as part of smaller working groups.
About you
The role is primarily office based in Borough High Street, SE1 1AA, however due to COVID 19 the team are currently working from home. This role would likely begin remotely and then follow government and organisational guidelines on returning to the office, with potential opportunities to continue to work from home on a regular basis going forward.
As an inclusive employer, we welcome conversations on flexible working and any reasonable adjustments that may be required.
Diversity Statement
We believe that the compassion, understanding and service we show each, and every individual customer should be reflected in the way we all support, respect and include every individual who works with us.
It’s because of this that we have strived hard to create a One Legion culture that we can all feel part of and succeed in. It’s why we make sure that you have the opportunities you need to learn and develop. It’s why we’re invested in making RBL a truly inclusive place to work, where everyone can be themselves. It’s why you’re welcome, whoever you might be.
It’s why we welcome applications from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
