The Role
An exciting opportunity for a Junior Public Relations Officer to join The Royal British Legion's national media team has become available.
You will help run PR operations for one of the UK's largest charities, working on some of the biggest national campaigns including the Poppy Appeal as well as the wider Remembrance period. The work of the PR team extends year round including delivering creative campaigns to tell the stories of people we help, driving awareness of our political campaigning activity, managing relationships with our high profile supporters, and engaging media at national commemorative events.
The successful candidate will have a relevant degree or equivalent work experience, and knowledge of media relations, public relations, journalism and the charity sector. You will have experience in providing administrative and logistical support as part of a team where good communication and co-ordination was essential. You will be capable of handling incoming enquiries to the press office and ensuring they are dealt with quickly and professionally.You will have the opportunity to develop and maintain good relations with representatives of all types of media while presenting a positive, professional and contemporary face of the Legion. The role will also involve assisting with media campaigns contributing original ideas, drafting press materials and analysing media coverage. We are looking for someone who can take an innovative and fresh approach, is capable of managing a heavy workload and has a positive attitude to problem solving.
